Simmtronics becomes first Tablet PC manufacturer with 3 lakh units capacity
According to Express Computer , New Delhi based Simmtronics Semiconductors is set to increase its Tablet PC production capacity to 6 lakh units per month by the end of 2012.
Currently it has increased its Tablet PC production capacity to 3 lakh units per month making it the first manufacturer in India to achieve a production capacity of 3 lakh units. Simtronics plans to export their Tablet PCs to Dubai and South Africa apart from selling them in India.
It may be noted that in Oct 2011, Simmtronics has entered into a strategic agreement with Via Technologies to enable Tablet PC manufacturing in India. Under this agreement, Simmtronics will manufacture Tablet PCs powered by WonderMedia PRIZM SoC (System-on-chip) platforms in India at their new dedicated production facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The Tablets manufactured under this agreement will target the Education market.
Simmtronics currently produces SIMM T700, SIMM T701, SIMM T702, SIMM T703 and SIMM T704 Tablet PC models, all of which are built with either Android 2.2 (Froyo) and Android 2.3 (Ginger bread) operating systems.
